Our Story

Over 160 years crafting natural stone products

Leiths Natural Stone can trace its history back to 1846, when the then John Fyfe Ltd established its business at Kemnay.

Since that time, the famous silver-grey granite has adorned many prestigious buildings throughout the UK, including Marischal College, Aberdeen. The same granite was also used in the construction of the Thames Embankment, the Waldorf Hotel in London and many other notable buildings throughout the UK and the world. Our own reception area at our Head Office in Cove is floored with Kemnay granite, and includes the cut and polished Bluehills granite inset in our Boardroom table.

The famous silver- grey granite has adorned many prestigious buildings throughout the UK, including the world’s second largest granite building, Marischal College in Aberdeen.

With the supply of Kemnay and other local granites now limited, Leiths Natural Stone also import different stone types from around the world, including China, India, Portugal, Brazil and Scandinavia. These are cut and polished at Oldmeldrum, into a wide range of architectural components as well as monuments and memorials, kitchen and bathroom surfaces, street and garden furniture, etc. Past contracts include the supply of walling and flooring to the Scottish Parliament Buildings at Holyrood, Edinburgh, contract value in excess of £3.5 million.
